Exclusive woven textiles by Lisa Albin, the designer of the furniture collection, Iglooplay, which convey the elegant line quality and movements of simple brush strokes. The markings were created in the tradition of Chinese calligraphy ink painting, using bamboo calligraphy brushes, which carry rich, black ink across fine textured rice paper. When ink touches the paper, it bleeds out onto its own unplanned course making an imprint that is impossible to reverse. This is the essence of Zen: honoring the singularity and sacredness of the moment.
The fabric content combines matte wool for the pattern's ground, mercerized cotton for the figures and synthetic, lustrous yarns for accents. The colorways distinguish cool and warm palettes while creating an interplay with neutral tones and metallics. Cool greys, electric blue, rich indigo and plum co-mingle with silver, pewter and cream - while warm golds, oyster, copper and bronze mix with grey, gunmetal and navy. Bold organic shapes and painterly strokes are articulated in a luxurious, commercial weave - bringing a crafted and contemplative material to commercial interiors.
